David Thomson is Canada's richest citizen...and he owns a stake in the MTS Centre via True North Sports & Entertainment Ltd.

At this point, with Phoenix actually doing well this year, time is needed to see how they do in the Playoffs...if they do well, they aren't going anywhere.
Bettman has recently proclaimed as much and a winning playoff run will only cement his resolve...this team in Phoenix was one of his babies and he wants it to succeed.
Most cities get behind anything that wins and draws attention (or money) to their city...fans or not.
