DON CHERRY ON THE HOUR

Cherry seems to really like the chances for Winnipeg getting another NHL team. He makes the point that the Coyotes are only averaging about 11,000 fans per game this season. Unfortunately, he fails to include that this was about the same average for the games in Winnipeg for our last NHL season.

However, things have changed in Winnipeg in that the MTS Centre is a busier and more lucrative venue--in general--than the Arena ever was. Throw in the relative strength of the loonie and a more reasonable salary cap...and we may be cooking with gas.

I also think that Winnipeg (now) has something to prove...so that could change things a bit as well.

Anyway, draw your own conclusions as to the validity of Cherry's opinion. Will have to wait and see about his opinion of his movie!
