  1. Fantastic! Simple and works on many levels and on a dark or white jersey.

  2. This is outstanding! Clever combining the jet with the maple leaf. And the blue circle gives it a "military" quality. For the sake of a hockey sweater I'd make the lettering smaller and closer to the logo so that great logo becomes more dominant.

  3. Between here and twitter, I haven't heard one negative comment about this logo yet! Great Work Chootoi!

  4. I don't like it. A Jet made out of a leaf? Um, no.

    Just no.

I want a jersey that's CLEAN, SIMPLE, and CUTTING EDGE. This isn't it.

  5. Winnipeg Jets is acceptable -Manitoba Moose is OK too. Manitoba Threshers Some thing we can all relate to. The logo is a singular Jet may as well DRaw 3 Jets.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I like the Jets name and that seems to be what many would like. There is also a focus that we should refer to the new team as a Manitoba team rather than Winnipeg. A new rebranding as the Manitoba Jets with Manitoba in the logo would be very fitting!

  7. The Avro airplane! Would be great as a shoulder patch, but I don't see it being the main logo.

  8. LOVE IT!!!, Its perfect and no he didn't just make a jet out of a leaf, it has a Retro look to it, it looks like the Avro Arrow which is Canada's "Jet", and it has a reminisce of the RCAF Tail badge

  9. Ahh--THERE is the negativity that was curiously absent. Ha! I think if people want the Jets, they had better get on the same page for a new look! Nothing has beat this so far?! It DEFINITELY won't ALL start with the OLD logo. That doesn't mean we can't ease back into it later...For now, don't you think it makes sense to agree on SOMETHING and push JUST to get the name? The logo with out the veins looks cleaner, no? Oh well, this was my attempt to get the JETS diehards on the same page. I should have known better! ;P

  10. Always a Thrasher!!!!June 1, 2011 at 8:00 PM

Thrasher fan here....as for the new logo...LOVE IT!!!!!!! Can't wait to fly up to Winnipeg next season for a game!!!!

  11. Really, really well done logo. Eye-catching and expressive but simple. Two thumbs up!

    ReplyDelete
  12. On the right track I would say, but I agree that the veining has to go. A bit of tweaking and this might work.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree, I a tweak or two may improve it--I just like the general idea. It's clever. Also, I am very glad to see a Thrasher fan commenting in a positive way. Cool!

  14. Colors are good, puck concept is cool but it's not practical as a brand identifier.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like this a lot!!!! I love that it incorporates three major items: 1) the Maple Leaf, the emblem of Canada (in it's proper colour), 2) the Avro Arrow (the first jet fighter, which was made in Canada before it was scrapped), 3) The circle, which is a testament to our armed forces (Winnipeg does have the Canadian base of NARAD)

  16. being a longtime fan of the Nordiques and the WHA, it would be a tradgedy not to resurrect the MONTREAL CANADIENS of the WHA. They are a storied franchise and should've never been allowed to leave for Phoenix. A newer syle logo would be acceptable even as i stare at my Hawerchuk jersey. How ironic it would be if the Coyotes end up in Quebec City....long live the canadian WHA hockey teams!!! nordiquesmith@gmail.com

  17. You mean the Jets right? "Canadiens??"

    ReplyDelete
  18. That is truly awesome

    ReplyDelete
  19. GO Leafs GO! Wait a minute… Toronto Maple Jets?

It's too similar to the Leafs. Be more original! Why does every "new logo" for a Canadian team need to have the maple leaf?

    ReplyDelete
  20. three avco cups in 7 yrs...thats canadiens-like dominance

  21. HI there, I'm trying to copy this picture so I can put it on my facebook. Would you have a link I could copy? Seems like I"m having problems doing that. I think it looks amazing!!! You should so go to True North and show them. This could be a hot seller.

    Ken

  22. I think it looks amazing. Use it as a 3rd Jersey and a Patch. Looks great. Trying to share it to everyone I know.

    ReplyDelete
  23. AMAZING!! Let's make sure that Mark gets his hands on this.. Anyone Able to get this to him.. I guess just a copy and paste to true north would work as well... I'm doing it.. Well done

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like it but I don't think Toronto would be too thrilled with it

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like it. Simple, elegant.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's perfect!!! It looks great now and will look great in 100 years. This is it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. That would be good for a secondary logo on the shoulder of the uni, but not the primary. I would think just use a text logo similar to the Capitals or the 96 logo at the top of the page.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Very nice and simple but I would agree with others that the Avro Aero need to be present and the letters should be more involved with the logo.. Otherwise it's perfect!!!!!

    Go Jets Go!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. It is excellent. This is the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Very well done!! I really like that it has "Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club" around it. It's very appropriate. I don't think you're going to get anything else better. Perfect! Congratulations Winnipeg and all of Manitoba!! I hope this is what you use.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Looks more like the maple leafs. I hate the leafs!

    ReplyDelete
  32. When I first saw this logo, I thought it was a new logo for the Toronto Maple Leafs.......... It comes too close to the Toronto Maple Leafs trademark....... I wouldn't be surprised if that franchise filed a complaint.

    ReplyDelete
  33. nope, not good. agree w/ tkrieger. looks like the toronto leafs. way to plain, we got to keep the name, so lets stick to something similar to our original jersey designs.

    ReplyDelete
  34. How is this close to the Leafs? Just because there's a maple leaf in it? First of all, it doesn't look the same design wise and it's not even the same colour. The LEafs don't own the rights to a maple leaf. What's next claiming the flag should change too?? I think any person in their right mind wouldn't want to associate themselves with such a loser franchise. Sorry Leafs fans but it's a fact.

    ReplyDelete
  35. it looks cool but it's simply not practical

    ReplyDelete
  36. I like it, nice for tatoo.

    ReplyDelete
  37. OMGGGG!! HORRIBLE design!! Go back to the drawing board!! PLEEEEEASE!!! PUKE.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Since this post, designers from England have taken a stab at it--I think this is the best complete presentation so far...by FAR!

  39. Kinda looks like the Avro Arrow jet. Great bit of Canadiana. I like it!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like it. It speaks to our Canadian heritage and it has a classic feeling. The only comment that I would make is that the font selection may be a little weak. But the actual logo is well thought out.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is nasty. I'm hoping they hire an actual talented graphic designer with experience to create this logo.

    ReplyDelete
  42. As a diehard Jets fan, I must say it's the best one I've seen yet. You should send it to the club (assuming you haven't already done so) ASAP!

Glad to have winnipeg back, grew up watching Keith Tkachuk as far as the new logo love it, am an american but would show the canadian pride with this logo. Good job you should submit it to the owners

    ReplyDelete
  44. nice but put a hockey stick in there, it looks too much like a Military air force logo

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is a fantastic logo! Submit it to the team!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nope! Looks like a beer label. Doesn't look modern or hockey-ish!

    ReplyDelete
  47. A failed Canadian fighter jet (Avro Arrow)!? Probably not the best jet to use in your logo.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Too much old school!!! And why the maple leaf too obvious and in red?? Liberal party ad?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Actually for those that think it's a jet made out of a leaf, maybe try thinking it's a leaf made from a Jet. Either one works.

regardless, It's simple, elegant and works beautifully. There might be some that want the hockey-stick "J" Jets logo, but when start attempting to add detail to that kind of stuff you get into cartoony land quickly. Not saying Winnipeg franchise couldn't update the Hockey-stick "J" logo, but to me this is a great shoulder patch if not primary.

I would include some sort of hockey stick or sticks in the logo. Hard to do without making it look busy or cartooish.

One piece of criticism is, I agree, the Jet needs to be modified or changed.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Retro style. Elegant. Great!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hate it, Don't need a Maple Leaf to know it is a CDN city. Looks like a RCAF logo. uggg!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Fantastic! Nice work.

    Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  53. What's with the leaf? Toronto has dibs on that...we are the Jets, remember? I really hope we don't end up with this logo!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Looks like a cross between the Conservative Party of Canada logo and the Canadian Forces logo. But it's the Jets, so who cares. Let's just play some hockey and and let the fans go wild! Now, where can I trade in my Canucks shirt for one of these?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Fantastic! Don't change a thing. Very clever and insightful... GO JETS GO!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. worst logo/ jersey i have ever seen. get something different

    ReplyDelete
  57. It is the best design I have seen put forward todate.

    ReplyDelete
  58. this looks like a molson canadian beer label...

    ReplyDelete
  59. sorry, too plain..looks too expansion, has to look more like the original..also, too Canadian..and yeah, I'm Canadian..something the Blue Jays would use

    ReplyDelete
  60. It looks like sh*t. What's wrong with you Winnipegers anyway? First you have so little imagination that you can't think of anything better than duhhhhh the Jets. Now you've messed up the original Jets history. The new Jets will always need to have an asterisk next to their name to keep it straight.
Try at least one original thing.... at least change the team colours.

    ReplyDelete
  61. No i don't really find it as monumental as the logo of the previous jets logo. I think they should try something with a better shape and objectives. The logo seems like they are trying to represent team Canada when really it's just the Canadian fan support. Please don't hate this is my opinion and I am entitled to it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I like it. being a Caps fan I don't like the fact that the start time will being 1 hour and a half later, but I'll live with it

    ReplyDelete
  63. I think it's too plain. I like the old logo.

    ReplyDelete
  64. brilliant design. it's simple, clean and nostalgic.

    ReplyDelete
  65. It looks too much like a bullseye.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I like the colour scheme, I like the logo idea. I don't like the leaf pattern in the jet. Fill it in with red, I say.

    ReplyDelete
  67. It looks like it has something to do with curling

    ReplyDelete
  68. Nice logo, but reminds me quite a bit of Toronto...maybe some tweeking of the colors ?

    ReplyDelete
  69. One thing to remember is that the team colours will mimic the old Moose uniforms...

    ReplyDelete
  70. The jets are back, with or without a jersey or logo why not call them the winnipeg manitobans or something like that they wanted something new and also wanted to appeal to all of manitoba. hmpph just a thought anyways I am a leaf fan in thunder bay and winnipeg is now my second team go jets or manitobans or whatever...say what you want all...go

    ReplyDelete
  71. To me, this is the best logo so far. But the jet looks a little stagnant, and trying to mesh a jet with a leaf is unnecessarily complicated. My suggestion: Drop the jet and the leaf in the middle, and replace it with the image of a jet that is blasting through the middle from bottom left to top right. Cal - Winnipeg

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't like it. It looks like a beer label.

    ReplyDelete
  73. This logo design is terrible. It looks like something you would have seen on a jersey 45-50 years ago. If they decided to choose something along these lines, merchandise sales would be terrible

    ReplyDelete
  74. I ditto on some of the comments that say it looks too old fashioned. It would be great for the team to wear this logo during NHL 'heritage' week but don't feel its modern/fresh. Too vintage looking for my taste. just my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Go leafs Go? Wait a minute, what's that? It's not bad, but it's a leaf? Does Winnipeg really want to be associated with Toronto? It needs to be more modern.

    ReplyDelete
  76. does any one who is a leaf hater really know why they are a leaf hater...power of suggestion the nhl is controlled by america and the leafs ARE canadas team either them or montreal and that has roots no other canadian teams have. a large percentage of nhl players comes from the gta i.e. stamkos, tavares, subban, primeau, foote, and hundreds of others look it up...any ways dont give into the hate machine and start supporting your team(s) as much as you hate and maybe you wont hate so much punks...the toronto maple leafs used the maple leaf for their logo before the candian flag did...

go leafs go the maple leaf forever
    peace

  77. I am not to interested in that logo, as a season tix holder. I would suggest, but before recognize True North ent. for the effort/determination to present the NHL(Co.?) with a business model that provides a solution for the under-sized facility. As for the jerseys, I think they should just modernize the previous logo a little bit and keep the colors. Maybe make the blue darker.

    ReplyDelete
  78. anonymous 2

Looks like a curling stone nothing to do with hockey. The logo needs flare and I would think with the Winnipeg organization there will definitely be green in the plan as there should be.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I've seen it on the jersey, and looks awesome. the military stripes on the arms were in V shape, but should be in W shape for a sneaky connection to Wpg. Colors are great. I know a lot of dudes who loved it as soon as they saw it.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Too conventional. Colors are good, I was expecting it to have a more distinct design than this. You should based it with the competitors, when it comes to image. Has no passion, no heart in it. It's a basic design but not a classic one.
The font that you used is like a school logo, very basic. It doesn't say Go Jets for me. Maybe next time, I should lower my expectations with the Brand managers or whoever is in charge with the Jet's Image. There's one thing I see that really looks good... the background.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ugh, they should just keep the original pattern. All this cartoony "leaf morph into plane" stuff is very minor league. Bring back the history, and people will feel like they're attached to what was there instead of trying to feel like they're getting used to a new team. *Pens fan's opinion, but excited to see a real city get a team instead of all this sun belt garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  82. So did you get a cut of the new logo... seeing as how it pretty much looks like yours?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Too Canadian, Air Canada looking

    ReplyDelete
  84. looks like they snatched your logo....

    ReplyDelete
  85. wow, you're a prophet! You were so close to the real deal and this might be better still

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yup... your idea done got stolen by those cats! You deserve your slice of da cheese mang! Congrats on the logo...

    ReplyDelete
  87. Is this a military team representing Canada or a Professional hockey team which is located in Canada? Come on now. Drop the maple leaf and lets see a sportier jet in 3D and from a side view angle, not the flat 2D birds eye view which is so plain and dull. Let's get with it here, with all the digital equipment let's show a little advancement relative to this decade. It looks like something from the days of the original six years. Needs to more technological advanced and the jet should be different colors or shades not one solid color. It also with the red, white, and blue colors, looks very American. Use different shades for those colors. This does not impress in the least. Come on Winnipeg wake up and get with the creative program.

    ReplyDelete
  88. As a Caps fan, I am nonetheless delighted to witness the return of NHL hockey to Winnipeg...and I totally dig this logo; there is little if anything I would change--maybe take the leaf veins out. Otherwise the use of the Avro CF-105 Arrow was a great touch--much more uniquely Canadian (i.e., better) choice for this crest than the U.S. designed and built CF-18.!!

    Other thoughts:

--To those who slammed this creation: You don't have to like it, but have some respect for the thought and hard work that went into it.

--The Avro Arrow was not the "first jet fighter", as claimed by one poster, but neither was it a "failed" aircraft, as claimed by another. It was (in its day) the crowning glory of Canadian achievement in aviation, and established many worldwide aviation "firsts". It was was an enormous thoroughbred of an airplane which could easily outperform any of its contemporaries. One of the great tragedies--not just for Canada, but for all of aviation--was that this example of engineering genius was canceled for political reasons. Many of those left jobless in the wake of the Arrow cancellation went on to find work in the then-nascent U.S. space programme. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that, had the Arrow programme not been canceled, then it might have been Canada--not the United States or the former Soviet Union--that eventually won the race to the Moon.

--Somebody said this was "too Original-Six looking." Frankly, when it comes to designing a hockey sweater that's pretty much what you're shooting for.

--I would never confuse this with Toronto's crest.

Go Jets--Congratulations Winnipeg and good luck!*

(except when they play the Caps).

    Peace,
    Das Rhino

  89. Great comment - thank you for the post! Can't believe this post is still so popular. I do like the logo and still wonder if the artist was acknowledged. There is no denying that this was a DIRECT influence on the final product!

Thanks for commenting about the Winnipeg Jets!
